Juttutuokio / YKI 3-4 Prep

Juttutuokio is an 8-week Finnish online course for level A2-B1 students who want to practise conversational skills and improve speaking and listening comprehension with a small group.

 

In this course, we elaborate various topics related to everyday life such as family, home, hobbies, work, environment, culture and society.  We practise through different types of speaking tasks such as interviewing, describing and linear telling, responding in situations, and expressing our opinion.

 

Depending on your goals, you can choose between two study modes: Let's talk and YKI 3-4 prep. Let's talk means that you want to focus on conversational skills and improve your speaking and listening comprehension. For YKI students, there is an additional written assignment provided after each meeting to review the topic of the conversation and practise writing. The writing tasks are similar to the YKI written exam.

 

Individual feedback and tips on how to practise Finnish independently are provided during the course. Additionally, the YKI students will receive feedback on writing.

Languages of instruction: English and Finnish

Goals:

  • Improve your conversational skills in Finnish

  • Gain confidence to speak Finnish and expressing our opinion

  • Prepare for the intermediate YKI test in Finnish

Material: Provided in the course through Google Classroom (Google account required)

Assessment: Individual feedback during the course

Homework (for YKI students): Written assignment related to the conversation topic

Location: Google Meet

Schedule: We have two small groups of max. 4 participants. Each lesson is for 60 min. Notice that the times are in Finnish standard time (EET).
